SAHELIYON KI BARI –
Located on the
banks of Fateh Sagar, Saheliyon ki Bari is one of the most beautiful and
peaceful gardens in Udaipur. It was believed that Maharana Sangram Singh
designed this garden for the royal ladies of the court. It is one of the most
attractive spots for tourists. It is famous for its lush green lawns as it
offers a green retreat in the dry lands of Rajasthan. It was built in the 18th
century for the royal ladies. It is believed that the queen was
accompanied with 48 maids and just to offer them a pleasurable time this garden
was built. The queen along with her 48 to 50 maids went to the garden to enjoy
and relax themselves from the politics of the court. The beautiful architecture
and formation of the garden attracts many tourists till date. The garden is
decorated with many breath taking fountains in its four water pools, marbles
elephants and many more. It is also loved for its lotus pool and bird
fountains. The greenery and beautiful marble made pavilions attract many
couples to this extraordinary magnificently beautiful garden. The second major attraction of the garden is
the museum, which holds a huge royal collection along with that many ancient
pictures and things of that period. Adding a little tint of your adventure the
stuffed cobras and other animals will for sure amaze you. Saheliyon ki Bari is
located on the northern part of Udaipur;
it is one of the best examples of
Rajasthani architecture. The lotus pool or “kamal talab†is well built and
guarded by the four marble elephants. The kamal talab or the lotus pool has a
fountain and its water injectors gain height if you keep on clapping. A
recently added museum depicts folk art, flora and fauna of the city. The best
time to visit this garden is from September to April. The tickets or entry fee
is minimal which is 10(Indians) to 50(foreigners) Indian currency. The timing
is from morning 8 to evening 8. It is also believed that this garden is haunted
so the gates are closed in evening 8. My locals come here in the morning for
exercises and walking. This garden remains pledged with tourists throughout the
year. Wearing flats shoes and comfortable footwear is a must as the garden is
often wet and moist because of the running fountains. This garden also provides
with shady lawns so that you can simply sit and relax with your family and also
good for couples.
