LAKE PICHOLA
A lake is the landscape’s most
beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye; looking into which the
beholder measures the depth of his own nature.â€
By Henry David Thoreau
Indeed true, this quote is true in
case of any lake in the world, but when we talk about the mesmerizing CITY OF
LAKES i.e. Udaipur, we cannot miss the majestic and grand lake PICHOLA of
Udaipur.
Lake Pichola is positioned in Udaipur
city and is an artificial fresh water lake, shaped in the year 1362 AD, named
after a neighbouring Picholi village. It is one of the several adjoining lakes,
and developed beautifully in the CITY OF LAKES - UDAIPUR.
The two beautifully breathtaking
islands, Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir are placed within Pichola Lake, and have been
developed with numerous palaces to provide view of the majestic lake.
The magnificent Pichola Lake was
built in 1362 AD by Banjara, a tribesman who elated grain. Later on Maharana
Udai Singh simply mesmerized by the beautiful lake built Udaipur city around it
and further reconstructed the lake.
“Be calm like a calm lake, then you
will look beautiful like a beautiful calm lake!†said by a very prominent writer,
clearly stands true in case of the majestic LAKE PICHOLA in Udaipur as this
lake gives an essence of the beauty of Udaipur and speaks about the grace God
has bestowed in terms of his creativity on Udaipur by manifesting one of the
most beautiful and ancient CITY PALACE on its banks and also is a home to many
wanderers.
The famous AMBRAI GHAT and GANGHOR
GHATS are also situated on the banks of Lake Pichola in Udaipur which one of
the best places in Udaipur to enjoy sunsets and sunrises from. In addition to
enjoying the sight of sun taking a dip into the blues of PICHOLA LAKE, you
yourself can also take a dip inside the cool and glittering waters of Lake

As it is very well quoted “Time
wasted at the lake is time well spent.†Similar is the case with every person
who visits Lake Pichola. This wide and landmark lake in Udaipur is stretched so
widely that it is visible from almost every corner and roof of the city
especially the old city area covering the most picturesque landscape of the
city.
Visitors can not only enjoy the rich
natural landscape but can also indulge in boat-rides in Lake Pichola rejoicing
